Respect, humility, teamwork, and shared purpose are core to how we work every day.About the RoleZig Zag Railway is seeking a number of casual Rail and Resources Crew Members to join our operations team in a hands-on, multi-skilled role supporting the safe, professional, and welcoming operation of the railway.This role provides flexible operational support across rail operations (within qualifications) and general railway activities. All operational staff are expected to perform a wide range of duties, and crew members may be rostered into any operational role they are qualified for. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform rail safety work in line with current qualifications (e.g. Signaller, Guard, Fireman, Driver)
  • Participate in shared operational rosters, including foundational roles as required
  • Assist with train preparation, servicing, and shutdown
  • Support safe, compliant, and professional rail operations
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers, staff, and management
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture
  • Help deliver safe, reliable, and welcoming experiences for passengers
  • Represent Zig Zag Railway professionally with visitors, partners, regulators, and the local community

You’ll Need:

  • Relevant qualifications such as Certificate IV in Train Driving, Certificate III in Guarding or Heritage Locomotive Assistance or a Zig Zag Railway Rail Safety Worker qualification (minimum Signaller) and recent rail industry experience
  • Willingness to perform any operational role you are qualified for, including basic or supporting duties
  • Ability to complete a Category 2 Rail Medical and Drug & Alcohol testing
  • Strong teamwork skills and a practical, flexible mindset
  • Availability for weekends, public holidays, and event days
  • Confidence communicating calmly under pressure
  • Physical capability to work safely in an outdoor, hands-on environment
  • Commitment to ongoing training and skill development
